About Me

I have always been attracted by uncluttered scenes and solitary objects. What is it about such seemingly simple scenes and things that appeal to me so strongly? Although the answer to this question eludes me still, the attempt to unravel this mystery is the driving force behind my painting. I have found that the immediacy and flexibility of pastel, its potential to create astonishingly luminous color and to suggest a broad range of textures is particularly suited to my endeavor. In fact it is due to these qualities of the medium of pastel that I find I am able, at least some of the time, to capture the indefinable element that makes my subjects so attractive to me and, I hope, to others.
